Esther Li graduated from the Western Australia Academy of performing arts (WAAPA) with a Bachelor of music degree in Jazz Performance in 2012 and has also completed both a Post-graduate Diploma of Education at Edith Cowan University (ECU) in 2014 and Masters of Music (Performance teaching) in 2017 at the Melbourne Conservatorium. Upon graduation, she achieved the Maude Harrington Scholarship upon the completion of the Masters degree in 2017. Born in Singapore, Esther started learning Classical piano at the age of 6 and has achieved Grade 8 Classical piano with Distinction.
Though piano examinations provides a goal for students each year, Esther believes that piano lessons that focus solely on graded exams can be too rigid and stifling. The stress from music examinations can diminish music interest in many children and teenagers. As an educator, Esther aspires to create interesting yet informative music lessons, aiming to build every students' music concept and foundation. She teaches and encourages improvisation and playing-by-ear to all students.
Esther has performed at prominent venues, such as the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) Moma Nights, The Esplanade in Singapore and the Ellington Jazz club in Perth, Western Australia. Besides weddings and music venues, she has also played at various corporate functions.
